Zurich celebrates female sports heroes
The "Female sports heroes" project by the IdéeSport foundation proves that every girl can be a sports heroine – regardless of athletic performance, cultural background, or physical appearance. Over the coming months, the IdéeSport foundation and its partners will be putting women's sport in the spotlight. With the support of the city of Zurich, it will be celebrating the diversity of women's and girls' sport in Zurich. The aim of the project is to create new female role models in sport and thereby motivate girls to get more exercise.
Month of Sports Heroines
In March, over 35 female sports heroine events will take place in the city of Zurich. Numerous female athletes from competitive and recreational sports will become sports heroines and introduce children and young people to their sport and their motivation for doing it. The sports heroines will become realistic role models for the participants, convey a positive image of sport, and thus motivate children and young people to do more sport and exercise. Find out more here about events in your area.
A free collection album
In addition to the events, IdéeSport is launching the Sports heroines collection booklet It features female athletes from a wide range of sports and performance levels – and the city of Zurich has its own double page. Girls can learn about different sports and stories of female sports heroes in a playful way, motivating them to get active themselves. All stickers and the booklet are free of charge and available at over 50 distribution points such as schools, daycare centers, and libraries.
