Sarah Akanji

Originally from Wiesendangen, the former footballer is a passionate advocate for women’s football — both in politics and at the grassroots level.
Now 31, she hosts the popular women’s football podcast «Steilpass» and co-founded FC Winterthur’s first women’s team in July 2016. From 2019 to 2023, she also served as a member of the Zurich Cantonal Council, where she worked to strengthen support for the women’s game and sports more broadly.
