First match day in Zurich attracts numerous fans

On the first of five match days of the UEFA Women's EURO 2025 in the host city of Zurich, the French women's team faced the English women's team at the Letzigrund Stadium. Fans from both nations created a great atmosphere not only in the stadium, but also in the ZüriFanzone and throughout the city.

Numerous English and French fans were already out and about in the city during the day. The English supporters in particular gathered at the Lionesses HQ Kraftwerk in Zurich, among other places, but the excitement was palpable at various other locations throughout the city. Overall, the atmosphere in Zurich was peaceful and exuberant, both in the city and in the ZüriFanzone.

The big highlight of the day was the opening match in the host city of Zurich: at 9 p.m., the defending champions from England kicked off the tournament with a top-class match against France – a real football highlight to get things started.
