ZüriKick gets girls playing football
As a key accompanying measure to UEFA Women's EURO 2025, the city of Zurich has launched «ZüriKick,» a free football program for girls aged 10 to 15 at schools in the city. In the current school year, over 150 girls have discovered soccer in one of the nine courses. But it's not just the girls who benefit: «ZüriKick» also promotes talented female coaches. Among the 18 course instructors in the first round of the program, there were eight new female coaches.
To mark the end of the first year of the course and to get in the mood for the upcoming UEFA Women's EURO 2025, a summer tournament was held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Allmend Brunau with 16 teams and around 150 girls. The girls were able to put into practice what they had learned in their weekly training sessions and enjoy the atmosphere of a tournament.
The program will continue
ZüriKick will continue and be expanded in the 2025/26 school year. Would you like to take part in a course? Starting on June 10, families of interested girls can book one of the 14 free ZüriKick courses for the coming school year online.
